Our March

People’s Climate Mobilization started out as a march set for April 29th, in Washington DC. As word spread around the nation about the People’s Climate March, sister marches began began being organized around the nation. Here in Denver, we were among the first sister events to start organizing. Part of our journey has been founding People’s Climate of Colorado – a newly registered nonprofit – to act as the official organizing group. We are proud to announce that we also have a number of other co-hosting organizations including 350 Colorado, Sierra Club, Colorado People’s Alliance, and Conservation Colorado.

The time for sitting by while waiting for action on climate change is long since over, and We The People are well aware of that. Climate change isn’t a partisan issue; it’s a scientific fact, and it demands immediate consideration.

The People’s Climate March is not just an event – it’s a step on the way to a sustainable world. We strive to create action addressing climate change across all levels and branches of government – but that alone is not enough. We work with local, environmentally friendly companies and nonprofits – but that is not sufficient. It won’t be what happens at the March that changes the world, but what happens in the days afterward.

In order to truly address the exacerbating affects of climate change and environmental destruction, we must all, as individuals and as groups, work to make our own portions of the world as environmentally friendly as we can. Change doesn’t start at the top, it starts at the bottom – and that’s why it’s up to us.
